Concentration
South Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary concentration in which students work across the humanities and social sciences, geographical locations, and time periods. The concentration emphasizes both the diversity of South Asia as a region, as well as the long-term historical connections among people and places in Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Languages
Brown University offers instruction in both Hindi-Urdu and Sanskrit through the Center for Language Resources and the Classics Department, respectively. Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes are offered in both courses of study.
Prizes
The Saxena Center offers the Thesis Prize in South Asian Studies and the Undergraduate Paper Prize
Study Abroad
Many Brown students choose to study abroad in their junior year. Through the Office of International Programs, students can choose the program best suited to their academic interests.
