Opportunities
Any Brown faculty member may propose a candidate for a short-term fellowship for visitors from South Asia. The visit must be at least 2 weeks and may be funded for up to 6 weeks (visitors may stay longer if supported from other sources).
Funding provided by Saxena:
- One round-trip ticket from South Asia
- Lodging and living expenses during the funded period
- Administrative support
Expectations:
- The visitor will deliver a talk or performance at the Saxena Center
- The visitor will make additional contributions to the sponsoring unit (department, institute, or school)
Timing: Visits may take place in Spring 2026, Fall 2026, or Spring 2027.
Important: Please indicate in the application if the visitor will require a U.S. visa, as this may affect the timing of their arrival. We will coordinate with selected visitors to assist with the visa process as needed.
How to propose a candidate:
Submit a one-page proposal describing:
- The sponsoring unit
- The visitor’s contributions to the Saxena Center and the sponsoring unit
- The pedagogical, policy, or research efforts the visitor would advance at Brown
Include the visitor’s CV with the proposal.
Deadline: October 31
Submission: Please email proposals to southasia@brown.edu, and copy pawan_pandey@brown.edu (Program Manager).
