Opportunities
Subject to university guidelines regarding spending and travel, the Saxena Center for Contemporary South Asia is offering summer 2026 research and travel awards of up to $3,000 to graduate and undergraduate students at Brown University. Students from any discipline whose research enhances knowledge about South Asia are encouraged to apply.
In keeping with university guidelines, funds may be used for travel to visit archives or conduct fieldwork (where possible), attend conferences (in person), language training, or other non-travel efforts to advance research during these challenging times.
It is highly recommended that students review the current university travel policies, as it may be necessary to submit travel plans for university review in advance of travel.
All applicants are required to submit a letter of recommendation from an advisor or any Brown faculty who can speak to the merits of the project.
All undergraduate applicants proposing to undertake research or an internship in South Asia must also provide a letter of support from a host institution or academic sponsor in South Asia.
Please reach out to pawan_pandey@brown.edu with any questions.
